Archery Nova Scotia - High Performance Program

Archery Nova Scotia (ANS) has entered their third year of the Nova Scotia Performance Pathways Initiative (NSPPI). This plan, created in collaboration with the Province of Nova Scotia (Communities, Culture, and Heritage) and the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic (CSCA), is intended to produce winning athletes at the National level in the 14-21 age groups. The AANS Vice President of High Performance, along with the High Performance committee, is responsible for the development and oversight of the High Performance Program. Six key areas of the program were identified within the plan: athlete development, coaches and officials, competition, daily training environment, sport science, and governance/management. The complete plan can be found HERE.

Nova Scotia is working towards becoming one of the top archery provinces in Canada. The High Performance Program is the first step in making this a reality. The program’s goal is to provide Nova Scotia’s youth archers who wish to compete at an inter-provincial, national or international level the skills and support necessary to achieve that goal. It is also a mechanism to identify candidates and to select a team to represent Nova Scotia at major national and international competitions. The program will enhance the participants understanding of what is needed to compete at the “next level” whatever they deem that to be. Under the program, clinics will be held which provide both training/coaching and competition.
